Until `brokenboulevard got here and started being all helpful. The other day she randomly emptied the dishwasher and filled it up again. Makes me look bad, she does
She arrived on Wednesday, all exhausted from flying for so long. Can't blame her, I was too. Waiting for her baggage made me happy I brought little enough for it all to go as carry-on, I don't have to wait at the baggage claim. First thing I noticed with `brokenboulevard was her accent. I'd sortof not realized the fact that she's British, and living in London. She sounds hilarious, made me giggle for two days whenever she'd say something. It's fun watching the two native speakers trying to use the other one's accent.
Update: On Wednesday I could finally breathe through my nose again, and even though I woke up feeling like shit, in the afternoon I was well enough to go meet `brokenboulevard at the airport. Thursday was quite busy, showing her around and making the most of our time. And now, while I feel quite alright, even quite well, I have unfortunately lost my voice. Yesterday I sounded funny (hoarse), and I've spent today either quiet or whispering. I know whispering is even worse than trying to speak normally, I just do it because it's easier to figure out what words I'm using that way. I can't shut up, y'see. According to a dude at CSI that's apparently a syndrome, the lacking ability to shut up.
My first day here we bought a harness and a leash for the kitten named Spock. We've taken her out several times now, but she still won't walk away from the house at all. The first 3 times we took her out all ended with her cowering back to the front door one way or another, running inside. The 4th time, however, we had to take her in because the school bus was unloading kids not far from us and we didn't want her to get attacked - she was noisy for a looong time after that, wanting to go back out again.
Spock is adorable by the way. She's half a year old. Loves to play with shoelaces, laser pen dots, but most of all these little mice you buy and throw around (with tails that come off way too easily). She plays Fetch with these mice - you throw one away, she races after it, stuffs it in her mouth, then struts back with it and leaves it at your feet to throw again, and again, and again. Bought her a cat tree the other day, and she loves racing all the way up to the ceiling (high tree) chasing a mouse, but going down again is still a little complicated for her.
We went to the animal shelter two days ago, never seen that many cats in one place. Or so many caged dogs. They had four rooms with cats in them, three of the rooms so small that the three of us (=zachriel, `Zikes, `brokenboulevard) barely fit well enough to take more than a step or two inside. I'm surprised not a single cat tried to make a run for it when we opened the doors. Maybe they'd figured out that the cuddliest is the one that goes, because they sure seemed cuddly. In the third room there was a caged cat that kept calling for attention, so I got my hand into his cage and petted him, and it was so adorable. As soon as I got my hand back out of it, he'd call for attention again. He/she/it, don't know the gender actually. When we left the room I could see the caged cat calling for attention even though it wasn't strong enough to sound through the glass. The fourth room was almost big enough to fit the first three rooms all at once, with lots of cats in it. Probably the friendliest and most well behaved cats. Unfortunately it seems there was some sort of disease in every room - in one of the rooms the skin seemed bad on several cats, and in this big room they seemed to have a cold.
Anyway, the caged beauty was the definite favorite out of all the adorable cats we saw. In the fourth room we found a great competitor, until it started hissing. Apparently the caged one is only caged because it's new, and they wanted it to get used to being around so many other cats before letting it loose in there. `Zikes signed some papers, and we'll go pick up the new cat as soon as they call and say it's ready (in a few days).
Went back to the sister and had food again last night. Good food. Apparently I taught them how to boil potatoes properly. Thanks Mom. I'm considering making Mom's favorite Saturday dinner, but I'm not much for cooking. It's boring and makes a mess.
We just had some buffalo wings. I guess the buffalos had just had Redbull, because they normally don't have wings as far as I'm aware. Looked a lot like normal chicken wings. Lit my mouth on fire. HOT.
This will have to do for now, I'm too distracted to write more

I spent half of yesterday whispering, but I think I'm getting the voice back now. Just woke up, so it's hard to tell until I've had my tea
